Filipina-Italian beauty queen Celeste Cortesi is our new Miss Universe Philippines!

The candidate, who represented the city of Pasay, triumphed over more than 30 equally stunning Filipinas from all over the Philippines.

The 24-year-old remained the last one standing and was crowned this year’s winner on Saturday night (April 30) at the Mall of Asia Arena by her predecessor Beatrice Luigi Gomez.

In the top 5 Q&A, Cortesi, a front-runner and crowd favorite, was asked what she would do if she had the chance to stop time for a day.

“If I could stop time, I would spend it with my family, especially my mother. It’s been two years since I spent time with my family because they live in Italy, and I came here in the Philippines just by myself. If I had a chance to spend one day, I would definitely be with my mom, and I would just tell her how much I love her and I miss her.”

Joining her in the last five were Ma. Katrina Llegado from Taguig, Annabelle McDonnell from Misamis Oriental, Pauline Amelinckx from Bohol, and Michelle Dee from Makati.

Amelinckx received the Miss Universe Philippines Charity crown while Dee was given the title Miss Universe Philippines Tourism.

Meanwhile, Llegado and McDonnell placed second and first runner-up, respectively.

Besides the 2022 Miss U PH crown, Cortesi also snatched the “Best in Swimsuit” award.
