The University of the Philippines (UP) has once again proven that its one of the best educational institutions after being recognized by British education company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) as one of the world’s top universities when it comes to Arts and Humanities.

The country’s national university ranked 260 in the Arts and Humanities subject in the 2022 QS World University Rankings, which is an improvement from its last year’s placement. 

Other PH universities also ranked high in the same subject – the De La Salle University (DLSU) and Ateneo de Manila University placed 323rd and 327th in the same subject areas, respectively.

Meanwhile, in other subject areas UP ranked as follows: 

  • 394 in Life Sciences and Medicine
  • 214 in Social Science and Management
  • 451-500 in Engineering and Technology

The annual ranking covered 51 subjects in total and intends “to help prospective students identify the world’s leading schools in their chosen field in response to high demand for subject-level comparisons.”

In this year’s list, UP placed 399th overall in the world ranking while it occupied the 77th spot in the Asian university rankings. 

QS ranks academic institutions according to academic reputation, employer reputation, as well as its citations in published papers.
