The transport of crops for mango farmers in Agusan del Norte’s municipality of Carmen has been significantly improved thanks to a new farm-to-market road that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed.

“The completion of the new FMR in Barangay Poblacion to Sitio Sisiman, Carmen is an answered prayer for local farmers in the area as they need not walk from the upland to bring their products to nearby markets,” said DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado.

The new pathway, which spans a total of 571-linear meters, will not only facilitate cargo transport for farmers but will also improve their profits, DPWH Region 13 Director Pol Delos Santos noted.

“FMR now hastens transport of goods which in turn will raise the profits of local farmers and spur economic development in the province,” he said in a statement.

The infrastructure project was implemented by DPWH Agusan del Norte District Engineering Office. Its construction cost a total of P11.9 million.
