Through its Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has helped more than 180 deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced employees in Kalinga to find work.

SPES aims to provide temporary employment to impoverished but deserving youth during summer, Christmas, and other periods of the year. Its end goal is to uplift the participants’ financial situation and ensure that they’re able to pursue their education.

The program was implemented by the government’s Provincial Human Resource Management Office (PHRMO) and the Kalinga Public Employment Office (PESO).

The beneficiaries came from Kalinga’s different municipalities and Tabuk City. As part of the program and to prepare them for their designated jobs, participants underwent orientation at the Kalinga Astrodome last March 31.

Those who were chosen for SPES will be assigned to different local government units of Kalinga province. They will be tasked with encoding, messenger, and clerical duties, as well as computer and programming jobs.
