The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished the construction of two new bridges in Agusan Del Sur expected to significantly improve mobility and connectivity in the province.

According to DPWH, the 189-lineal meter Andanan Bridge in Bayugan City and the 125-lineal meter Gibong Bridge – both located in the municipality of Prosperidad – will bring more developmental opportunities and boost the delivery of basic services in the area.

DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado praised the effort and dedication of DPWH Regional Office 13, headed by Director Pol M. delos Santos and Assistant Director Abdulfatak A. Pandapatan, who pushed through to complete the infrastructure projects despite the difficulties the COVID-19 pandemic posed.

“The two permanent bridges provide a much wider perspective on inter-regional connections that will help maintain a continuous flow of traffic even with the increased volume of vehicles passing through the Agusan-Davao section of Daang Maharlika,” Mercado shared.

After finishing the construction of the bridges, DPWH Regional Office 13 will be working on completing the approaches of the two bridges.
