To assist survivors of Typhoon Odette, Caritas Philippines will launch a new program called ‘Adopt a Family’ on March 2.

The initiative will help provide shelter and livelihood to families affected by the devastating typhoon, Kidapawan Bishop and Caritas PH National Director Jose Colin Bagaforo said.

The program will be the biggest friend-raising event by Caritas PH and the Social Network, which aims “to raise 400 million pesos to build brand new houses and provide livelihood packages to more than 11,000 families in eleven dioceses severely devastated by Odette.”

In December last year, Caritas PH launched a similar appeal to encourage Filipinos to send in help to those hit hard by Typhoon Odette.

National Caritas’ Executive Secretary Fr. Antonio Labiao said many were left without the essentials of living after the typhoon wreaked havoc in the regions of Visayas and Mindanao.

“They need shelter materials, food, water and medicines urgently. That is why we are appealing for your help,” he said in his plea.
