The residents of Davao Del Sur are now reaping the benefits of the rehabilitated Port of Malalag, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The agency says the port is now able to accommodate more vessels and has significantly improved the connectivity, mobility, and comfort of Davaoeños. Tourism, the economy, and commerce are also expected to heavily benefit from the renovations.

This is thanks to the numerous projects that were implemented at the port, specifically to modernize its facilities. The harbor received a new wharf, access trestle, back-up area, improvement of the old back-up area, and the installation of a lighting system.

The upgrades, undertaken by the Philippine Ports Association (PPA) back in 2017 that cost Php 550 million, were officially finished in December of 2019.
