Filipino social enterprise Liter of Light has added another award to its long list of achievements, receiving the ‘Green Award for Energy’ during the 2021 Greentech Festival held in London.

The initiative, which makes use of solar power to light remote communities in the Philippines and other parts of the world, was among the two awardees for this year with the other being King’s Cross, who bagged the Community category award.

The ceremony was held in London’s Skyloft on November 4, 2021. Liter of Light founder Illac Diaz was present during the event and received the award personally.

“Incredibly honored to be able to win the Green Tech Festival in the Energy Category at Greentech Festival,” Diaz wrote in a Facebook post.

“Thank you to A Liter of Light (Isang Litrong Liwanag) and all the Philippine and Global Partnerships that has made our journey for People and Planet possible!” He added.

Last year, the social enterprise also nabbed the Asia Pacific Innovation Award for its Light It Forward campaign, which urged Filipinos to hand-build solar lamps for far-flung communities without electricity.
