Although the current PBA conference has concluded, young Filipino basketball players are continuing to showcase their skills when it comes to the sport, specifically in Japan’s B-League.
Just recently, Dwight Ramos of the Toyama Grouses and Matthew Aquino of the Shinshu Brave Warriors entered the next phase of the 97th Emperor’s Cup on November 1 in Hokkaido and Osaka.
Toyama trumped the Ibaraki Robots with a 94-87 win while Shinshu narrowly escaped the Hiroshima Dragonfly with a 69-67 victory.
Dwight Ramos contributed five points, four rebounds, and three assists, helping the Grouses advance to the semi-finals of the All Japan Basketball Championship tourney.
Aquino didn’t have much to do as he was put in the sidelines for this match-up.
Meanwhile, the Ravena brothers, Thirdy and Kiefer, are now officially out of the cup after their respective teams were defeated on Monday.
Thirdy’s SAN-EN NeoPhoenix crashed out of the cup after falling to second division team Kagawa Five Arrows, 95-71. Kiefer’s Shiga Lakestars folded to Alvark Tokyo, 92-75.
