Incumbent Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto has made his intent to run for another term official this Friday (October 1) morning.
Sotto was accompanied by his mom, actress Connie Reyes, and father, Vic Sotto, at the city’s local Commission on Elections office where he filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC).
In a Facebook post, the 32-year-old politician opened up about how difficult his time as mayor has been. According to Sotto, he was only in his ninth month as mayor when the pandemic hit, which brought a lot of issues to the forefront and forced projects to be stalled.
Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Sotto is rallying the citizens of his city to come together and continue the fight against COVID-19.
“Kaya sa susunod na term, magtulungan tayo para bawiin ang oras na ninakaw sa atin ng covid-19,” he said.
“Nandiyan na ‘yung mga reporma. Iba na ngayon. Paiigtingin na lang natin at sisiguraduhin na damang dama ng bawat Pasigueño ang mas pinabubuting serbisyo ng pamahalaang lungsod,” Sotto added.
Likewise, Former Pasig Rep. Robert “Dodot” Jaworski Jr. has filed his COC and is vying for the vice mayor post as Sotto’s running mate.
In 2019, Sotto ended the 27-year reign of the Eusebio clan in Pasig City, garnering more than 200,000 votes in the poll.
