Besides providing flyers a more comfortable travel experience, the improved Camiguin Airport is expected to bring in more opportunities, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

In a Facebook post, DOTr highlighted the improved flying experience that the airport now offers, which has the potential to boost Mindanao’s economy and tourism sector.

“Mas kumbinyente at komportable na ang biyahe ng bawat pasahero. Malaki rin ang ambag ng mga natapos na proyekto sa pagpapasigla ng ekonomiya at turismo sa Mindanao,” the department wrote.

According to Transport Secretary Art Tugade, the renovation scheme, which is a collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), focused on the expansion of the airport’s passenger terminal building.

Now, it can accommodate more than double its previous passenger capacity.

Apart from this, Camiguin Aiport also received a new Administration Building and Fire Station.

Meanwhile, significant repairs were also made to its runway slope and other facilities.
