With less than a month remaining until his match with Puerto Rican boxer Carlos Caraballo, Filipino fighter Jonas Sultan is putting his all into training and preparation.
In an interview with ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, the 29-year-old fighter relayed his excitement about his upcoming bout, noting he was unable to fight for two years due to the pandemic.
“Excited tayo sa darating nating laban kasi almost two years akong hindi nakalaro,” Sultan said.
“Binigyan tayo ng opportunity na makalaban ulit. So, grabe yung training natin ngayon. Ibibigay ko talga yung best ko sa laban na ‘to para makakuha tayo ng world-title fight,” he added.
This fight with Caraballo will be Sultan’s second fight this year. In August, the Zamboangueño entered the ring against American Sharone Carter, who he knocked out in the seventh round.
Likewise, Caraballo is preparing hard for his fight against Sultan.
“Sultan is a strong, experienced opponent. I know he has fought the big names, but I am working hard with my team to show I am a force to be reckoned with. This victory is for my people from Guayanilla, and all Puerto Ricans in New York,” he said in a report from Manila Bulletin.
The Sultan vs Caraballo fight is scheduled for October 30th and will be held at the Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York City.
