Since rising to instant fame in 2016 for his good looks, ‘Carrot Man’ aka Jeyrick Sigmaton has proven that he’s more than just a pretty face.

Just recently, the young Igorot native of Benguet was recognized for his acting talents at a prestigious award-giving body in New York.

For his amazing performance in the short film ‘Dayas,’ which chronicles the story of small-scale gold miners in the Cordilleras, Sigmaton won ‘Best Actor’ at this year’s NY International Film Festival Manhattan Autumn Edition.

Sigmaton trumped American actor Angelo Reyes of the film ’21st & Colonial’ for the award.

In the film, the 27-year-old performer played ‘Bantay,’ a miner who’s having difficulties facing the changing times, specifically because of traditions and beliefs.

The film was written ad helmed by Jianlin Floresca under Sine Cordillera and Be Unrivaled Productions.

“We’re very thankful to have the Best Actor award for Jeyrick Sigmaton. So on behalf of my actor and the entire cast of Sine Cordillera’s Dayas, and also on behalf of all Igorots all over the world, bagi tayo daytoy (this is for all of us),” Floresca shared in a YouTube video.
