Travel to six local destinations in the Philippines will become much easier after RT-PCR or antigen tests were axed as requirements.

On Wednesday (October 6), Cebu Pacific confirmed that tourists traveling to Cebu, Pagadian, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Tacloban, and Butuan will no longer be required to undergo swab tests.

“We are encouraged by the efforts of these LGUs to open up their borders and simplify travel requirements. We share the goals of the national government that we do not contribute to the spread of the virus, by implementing safe and risk-based approach to travel,” Cebu Pacific Vice President for Marketing and Customer Experience Candice Iyog shared.

Those going to Cebu will only have to present a medical certificate stating they’re free of COVID-19 symptoms. It should be issued within 24 hours before arrival, the commercial flyer said.

Meanwhile, passengers on their way to Pagadian are required to show a valid ID issued by the government, stating their address in the city. Transiting passengers don’t need to present any requirement, Cebu Pacific added.

Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Tacloban, and Butuan travelers are required to present their vaccination cards, which shows they’re fully inoculated.

The card should show that they received their last shot 14 days prior to their trip if it’s a two-shot vaccine. The same applies to those who had single-dose vaccines.
