The San Miguel Beermen came out as the victors in their Wednesday match against TNT at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The Beermen dealt Tropang Giga their first loss in the current Philippine Cup season with an 83-67 downing. 

Throughout the match, San Miguel was ahead in performance to TNT, which may have been fueled by their recent defeat against the Terrafirma. 

“I think that loss is a wake-up call para sa amin at it happened na kalaban namin ngayon is Talk ‘N Text,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.

 “I’m so thankful to the players because ‘yung sense of urgency nandoon,” he added. 

The Beermen were consistently on top of the scoreboard, leading by as much as 27 points during the whole match. 

Top-performing players for San Miguel include Marcio Lassiter with a team-high of 19 points, Terrence Romeo pitching in 16 points, June Mar Fajardo contributing 17 rebounds, and Chris Ross delivering six steals to reach a career-high of 901, the highest steals record in PBA.  

Meanwhile, TNT’s top scorers were Kib Montalbo with 13 points and the duo of Roger Pogoy and Brian Heruela with 10 points each.
