Palawan, a top tourist destination in the Philippines, has once again received worldwide recognition after being included in two of Travel + Leisure’s best island lists.
The island received a fifth-place ranking in the magazine’s “Top 5 Islands in Asia” roster, earning a rating of 88.63. It joins other tropical destinations such as the Andaman Islands in India, Koh Samui in Thailand, Bali in Indonesia, and the Maldives.
Meanwhile, in Travel + Leisure’s “World’s Best Island” list, Palawan was ranked 19th overall.
The US publication praised the island for its “mountains as well as white sand beaches washed by the Sula and South China seas.”
It also highlighted the area’s varied accommodations.”Resorts range from eco-chic stays to the spectacular Amanpulo resort, accessible only by private plane,” the T+L wrote.
Department of Tourism’s (DOT) Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat welcomed Palawan’s inclusion into the prestigious lists.
“The award accorded to Palawan speaks for the country’s tourism destinations, still being on top of mind of travelers,” Puyat shared in a statement.
“The Philippines’ natural wonders, coupled with the world-renowned Filipino hospitality, make destinations like Palawan truly one of the best, not just in the region, but in the world,” she added.
