Filipina-American tennis player Desirae Krawczyk has taken this year’s Mixed Double title at the US Open alongside British partner Joe Salisbury.
The duo bested Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos and El Salvador’s Marcelo Arevalo 7-5, 6-2 to capture the crown at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
“It has been an incredible two weeks,” Krawczyk said. “It has been amazing.”
With this win, Krawczyk becomes the first player since India’s Mahesh Bhupathi, who swept the 2005 Wimbledon and US Open and 2006 Australian Open crowns, to win three consecutive Slam mixed doubles titles.
Krawczyk previously won in the 2021 French Open in the same category with Salisbury as her partner. Meanwhile, her other title came at the 2021 Wimbledon with British partner Neal Skupski.
In the Open era, Krawczyk is only the seventh woman to manage such a feat in the same year. She joins the likes of India’s Leander Paes and Swiss Martina Hingis in 2015.
Her partner, Salisbury, also made history. The 29-year-old, who took the men’s double title with American Rajeev Ram last Friday, became the first to capture both doubles crowns on the New York hardcourts in more than a decade – the last being American Bob Bryan in 2010.
