To keep passengers and tourists safe, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) undertook the mission of transforming the once dilapidated Jolo Aiport.
As part of its much-needed overhaul, the airport received a new passenger terminal building, which replaces the old structure that’s been deemed unsafe.
Apart from this, improvements on the site’s facilities are also underway, specifically the widening of the runway strip, strip grade protection, the construction of a fire station, and a vehicular parking area.
According to Tugade, aside from safer air travel, the revitalized airport will help in boosting tourism and the economy in the Jolo region, specifically its people.
