Filipino workers who contracted COVID-19 through job-related means are entitled to cash assistance, according to the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC).

According to ECC Senior Information Officer Alvin Garcia, the claimable cash aid is separated into two categories – the sickness claim and the death claim.

For the sickness claim, employees can receive up to Php 10,000 in monetary assistance, and for the death claim Php 15, 000 has been allotted.

“They can receive cash assistance benefit. Sa ngayon, fixed siya na [For now, it is fixed at] P10,000 for sickness claim, P15,000 for death claim,” Garcia said in an interview with GMA’s Unang Balita

He notes that workers who got infected with COVID-19 last year are still eligible to get financial aid from ECC.

Meanwhile, employees who are under a work-from-home arrangement since the implementation of community quarantines are not entitled to the assistance fund. However, Garcia said their eligibility is now being discussed by medical experts.

Those who are interested in availing of the cash assistance from ECC can file an EC claim through Social Security System (SSS) and (Government Service Insurance System) GSIS. Here are the steps:

2. Swab test result / RT-PCR test result (Positive of COVID19)

3. Certificate of Employment & Job Description

4. Medical Certificate/Record

Garcia shared that the cash assistance from ECC is separate from the monetary aid workers can get from SSS and GSIS.
