SM Prime Holdings, the property development arm of the SM Group, has partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the local government of Parañaque to hold a simultaneous clean-up initiative targeting the city’s waterways and rivers.
The “environmental bayanihan” drive—consisting of community members from Don Bosco, the Barangay Tambo Environmental Police, DOLE-TUPAD, DENR Estero Rangers, and volunteers from SM’s security, maintenance, and estate management personnel—was able to collect four truckloads of wastes composed of vegetation and 57 sacks of garbage, which weighed 20 kilograms each.
This clean-up drive is part of the SM Group’s showing of support towards the rehabilitation of Manila Bay, which will be fundamental in developing long-term flood mitigation strategies in Metro Manila and nearby communities.
Back in June, SM Prime held its regular desilting initiative at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, which coincided with the global celebration of World Oceans Day.
