After finishing the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference on a high note, the league is already planning to hold another tournament later this year and Manila is being eyed as the venue for the upcoming contest.
“We’re looking at another conference sometime in October or November, and we want it in Manila in a bubble setup,” PVL president Ricky Palou told Philippine Star.
“We can have all of the teams in one place or each team can have their own quarters or hotel para wala ng uwian to minimize health risk,” he added.
However, the league noted that the holding of the new conference will rely on how the COVID-19 situation evolves.
“But it will also depend on the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) and the local government units (LGUs) involved. We need their approval,” Palou explained.
According to Palou, if the next conference goes ahead 11 teams will be participating, which includes F2 Logistics. The team will make a return after skipping the recently concluded season due to player injuries.
“F2 will come in. Mr. Efren Uy, the owner, told me if there’s a second conference, they would join. So we will have at least one additional team. That should make the league more interesting kasi malakas din ang F2.”
The Cargo Movers will join the 10 teams that competed in the latest conference.
The following teams will also make their return: Chery Tiggo, who took home first place in the newly wrapped season, second place Creamline, third place Petro Gazz, and Choco Mucho, who placed fourth.
Black Mamba Army, PLDT Home Fibr, BaliPure, Perlas Spikers, Cignal HD, and Sta. Lucia Realty will also be competing in the next tournament.
