The houses promised to the Philippines’ three Olympic boxers are now officially being built, the Philippine Olympic Committee announced.
On Wednesday, the groundbreaking for the housing project was led by Senator Francis Tolentino at Brgy San Jose in Tagaytay City. Tokyo Olympics medalists Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Carlo Paalam were also present during the ceremony.
According to POC President Bambol Tolentino, the house and lot is part of the incentives being provided to the three boxers, who took home accolades from the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The gifted residence will come as single detached homes complemented with two bedrooms and an attic. It will be built on a 110-meter lot and will cost a total of Php 5 million each.
The houses are expected to be finished by December of this year.
Earlier that day, bronze medalist Marcial, silver medalists Petecio and Paalam were joined by gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz at a Thanksgiving Mass organized by the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
Also present during the mass were POC President Bambol Tolentino, Tagaytay City Mayor Dr. Agnes Tolentino, and Cavite Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista, who officiated the mass.
