Top e-commerce platform Lazada has teamed up with homegrown tech startup Kwik.insure to provide free insurance to Filipinos.
The new initiative will work through Lazada’s wallet feature. Every transaction that a customer closes using the wallet will automatically grant them eligibility for free COVID-19 insurance.
According to Kwik.insure, eligible customers will automatically receive a free voucher for their COVID-19 Kwik Assist, which provides a P10,500 one-month coverage for accidental death, death due to sickness, and death due to COVID-19.
“Through our partnership with Lazada, we provide millions of Filipinos the opportunity to have insurance against COVID-19. Given our country’s low insurance penetration rate, majority of them will be first time insurance availers,” founder and CEO of Kwik.insure Hamilton Angluben said in a statement.
“The goal is to educate more people about the value of insurance and learn how easy it is to be protected,” he added.
The insurance promo is set to run until October of this year and allows users to stack up to 10 insurance vouchers per month.
For their part, Lazada said their new program is “geared at ensuring we address the needs and priorities of those we serve.”
“Through our partnership with Kwik.insure, we are happy to be able to provide our customers with access to a service that is most especially valuable and relevant today,” the chief operating officer of Lazada Philippines Carlos Barrera shared.
Through the Lazada Wallet, users can pay for their online shopping transactions. It can also be used to pay bills and buy mobile load.
