Jimmy Alapag’s NBA coaching gig is far from over.

The former PBA player and Gilas Pilipinas captain has been tapped as assistant coach for the Stockton Kings, which is the Sacramento Kings’ G League affiliate.

This development comes after his coaching position at the Sacramento Kings, specifically in the recently concluded NBA Summer League where they rose as champions.

The 43-year-old Fil-Am will be assisting head tactician Bobby Jackson, an NBA veteran player who played 13 years for Sacramento.

Apart from Alapag, Akachi Okugo was also named as an assistant coach. They’ll be joined by former Sacramento and Los Angeles Lakers video coordinator Will Scott, who’s been delegated as associate head coach.

Before his coaching stint in the NBA, Alapag served as an assistant coach for the San Miguel Beermen in 2019.

He’s also held the position of head coach for the San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) since 2017 and won his first title in 2018.

At present, Alapag is settling in the United States due to the pandemic. However, in prior interviews, he said this will not be a permanent move.
