The ‘much-improved’ and ‘modernized’ Butuan Airport is now ready to serve the Filipino public, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
The airport – located in the province of Agusan del Norte – is part of DOTr’s many development projects, which aim to upgrade existing airports in the country.
As part of the Butuan Airport’s upgrade, Malasakit Hall was enhanced to accommodate more services. The hall now hosts a clinic, a childcare room, passenger lounge, prayer room, washroom, at concession space.
Apart from this, the airport’s runway was also updated – a new runway asphalt overlay has been installed.
He said the new features will make travel for passengers ‘more convenient’ and ‘comfortable.’
Tugade noted that they also conducted renovations inside Butuan Airport, specifically repair and repainting works on the exterior and interior.
With the completion of the project, DOTr expects the economy, tourism, and employment in the region to improve significantly.
