The Philippines is home to some of the most beautiful islands in the world. And though it may seem biased coming from us, this statement was recently validated when El Nido in Palawan and Cebu were included in Big 7 Travel’s 50 Best Islands in the World 2021 list.

El Nido was ranked second on the list and was praised for its “untouched” quality as well as its “white sandy beaches and tropical jungle.”

“El Nido is a cluster of 45 islands just off the tip of Palawan, which is famous for its Secret Lagoon. Swim through a hole in the limestone rocks to enter a hidden bay with crystal clear water and soft sand,” the travel and leisure website wrote.

Meanwhile, Cebu landed the 25th spot and is described as having “sugar-white beaches, clear emerald waters, hot springs and several jungle waterfalls.”

Apart from this, Big 7 travel also highlighted the coastal town of Oslob, where people can interact and witness whale sharks.

“Cebu Island is a tropical paradise in The Philippines; made up of Cebu Island and 167 other islands in the Visayas…For an unforgettable experience, you’ll want to head to Oslob on the southern tip of Cebu,” Big 7 Travel wrote.

According to Big 7 Travel, the islands included in the list were ranked based on aggregated scores from previous media results and contributions from editors.

It followed a system with nine criteria points, which included: editorial opinions and experiences, previous critic reviews, online customer reviews, location and accessibility, online presence, consistency, atmosphere and service, value for money, and presentation.

Early in July, El Nido’s Secret Lagoon was also included in Big 7 Travel’s list of the ‘Top 50 Beaches in the World.’
