Filipina tennis wunderkind Alex Eala is just five spots away from entering the top 500 female players of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).

In the latest ranking list released by WTA on Monday (August 9), Eala now finds herself at no. 505, a huge jump from her previous placing of no. 639 just last week.

Before the release of the roster, Eala exited the ITF W25 qualifying draw in Belgium after losing to American foe Taylor Ng, 3-6, 6-4, 9-11.

Meanwhile, on the doubles’ category, Eala, who hails from Quezon City, is at WTA no. 753 while on the juniors’ side, she is ITF world no. 2.

Early this year, Eala won her first professional title at the W15 Manacor after defeating Spaniard Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

In June, the teenager scooped her second juniors Grand Slam title in the 2021 French Open with her Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva.
