Gilas Pilipinas has snatched their second straight win in the King Abdullah Cup after beating Jordan’s Team B, 90-63, at the Prince Hamzah Sports Hall in Amman on Wednesday night (July 28).
Fil-American point guard Dwight Ramos lead the team to their 27-point victory over Jordan B, sinking seven out of his 10 three-point shots for a total of 21 points. Meanwhile, Justine Baltazar contributed three shots from the perimeter scoring a total of 13 points.
Jordan Heading also showed his shooting prowess with triples and finished with 11 points.
For the Jordanians, Obeid Ahmad and Hamati Ibrahim were the top scorers, pitching in 14 and 10 points for their team respectively. The team had a difficult time defending against Gilas’ shooters, which held them back by as much as 31 points.
Gilas maintained a steady lead over the host team through the support of Carl Tamayo, Rey Suerte, and Heading.
The Philippine team’s win is a follow-up to their winning match against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (July 27), 77-62.
Gilas now has two wins in the cup after their less than stellar opening with Egypt where they lost, 73-60.
