Filipino fast-food giant Jollibee Food Corporation (JFC) has announced its intent to expand its chain of restaurants in the United States.

JFC President Ernesto Tanmantiong confirmed the plan during the US-Philippines Business Dialogue, where he announced their aim of establishing 500 additional stores in the US in a period of just five to seven years.

The US hosts the most JFC brands and stores outside of the Philippines, which Tanmantiong credits to the Filipino community in the country.

“We have been successful in the US because of the Filipino diaspora. We are grateful that we have a strong Filipino community in the US. They have been our brand ambassador for Jollibee through word of mouth and because of that, they are able to convince local mainstream markets to visit our stores and enjoy our products,” he said in a report by Philippine Star.

Besides Jollibee, JFC also established a variety of stores in the US, which includes Chowking, Red Ribbon, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Smashburger, and Tortazo, which is a partnership with renowned chef Rick Bayless. The conglomerate also operates select Dunkin Donuts stores in the Philippines and China.

According to Tanmantiong, they’re looking forward to the opportunity to grow in the US this 2021 and, of course, here in the Philippines.

“We look forward to further growing in 2021 as we open around 15 new restaurants in the US and at least 15 new Burger King and Panda Express branches in the Philippines,” he shared.

The company’s expansion is part of its long-term goal of joining the top five restaurant companies in the world.
