The pandemic affected a lot of sectors in the Philippines and one of the hardest-hit was the area of education.

When coronavirus began to spread, face-to-face classes in the country were immediately shut down to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which forced schools, teachers, and students to adopt a virtual set up to continue the school year.

However, people were unprepared for the sudden shift, which resulted in most schoolchildren not being able to comply with studies and requirements.

To help address this pressing concern, Globe Platinum kicked off its #ForFutureHeroes program in 2020, which aims to help schoolchildren struggling to keep up with remote learning.

So far, Globe Platinum has managed to help more than 2,000 Filipino school kids stay in school amid the pandemic – a year after launching the program.

The #ForFutureHeroes program works by engaging Globe Platinum customers in various virtual events, where their participation is matched with school kits from humanitarian aid organization World Vision.

The program has raised a total of 2,735 homeschool kits – 1,662 kits, of which, have already been distributed to children in need, specifically to students of Baseco Compound in Manila. The rest of the kits will be distributed in October, which is the start of the new school year.

Globe Platinum’s Marketing Director James Alcantara said they believe in the power of education and through their program, they want to ensure that there’s a bright future waiting for Filipino kids.

“As a staunch advocate for uplifting the vulnerable, Globe Platinum believes in equipping children with the power of education and knowledge to pave their way to a brighter future,” he told Manila Bulletin.

“We celebrate this milestone with our loyal customers, who have played a huge role in making this campaign a success. By sharing their valuable time and effort, they made a huge difference in the lives of these children who we believe will become future.” Alcantara added.

As thanks to those who supported their program, Globe Platinum will launch a new page where users will be able to access content from previous events.
