Digital financial technology leader PayMaya is expanding its services to the world of gamers by introducing a new in-app feature, allowing Filipino players to purchase digital products through the app.

The new cashless app service is called PlayMaya and will provide users access to exclusive gaming product deals, cashback rewards for in-game purchases, free mini-games, access to tournaments, and curated content from popular gaming personalities.

PayMaya users can easily access the new service through the ‘Play tile.’

According to PayMaya Philippines President Shailesh Baidwan, the inclusion of the new feature is part of the company’s goal of transforming its service to better cater to consumers’ convenience.

“PayMaya has always been at the forefront of lifestyle-enabling innovations through financial technology. On top of providing more reliable, safer, and more convenient cashless payments, we are enriching the digital experience of our millions of users through delightful features and offers such as PlayMaya,” Baidwan shared.

The financial tech company’s latest move reflects the growing gaming industry in the Philipines, which British international Internet-based market research and data analytics firm YouGov considers a high-growth area.

In 2020, YouGov reported that four out of five or a whopping 80 percent of Filipinos are heavily engaged in mobile or video gaming.

Baidwan said that the PlayMaya service spells only the beginning of PayMaya’s strengthening of online payment services.

“As we continue building our unmatched enterprises and consumer payment solutions and offer new adjacent financial services, we are strengthening consumer affinity with relevant and enjoyable features anchored on cashless payments,” he said.

As part of its new service’s launch, Paymaya is organizing “an online multi-league tournament for gamers nationwide with over P10M worth of prizes.”
