Boxer-turned-senator Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao is gearing up to face-off against American fighter Mikey Garcia in a match set for a July outing in Dubai, sources confirmed.

The fight was validated by a Team Pacquiao insider, who contacted Inquirer saying the fight is likely to be finalized soon.

Three weeks since returning to training, Pacquiao divulged that his team is in the process of negotiating with a potential opponent. However, the eight-division world champion remained mum on the identity of the boxer in question.

“Ongoing yung negotiation. Hindi ko lang puwede sabihin,” the 42-year-old fighter told reporters on Monday (May 3).

Although this is the case, those close to the boxer have since chimed in – affirming rumors that Pacquiao’s latest adversary will come in the form of Garcia.

Pacquiao’s business manager, Arnold Vegafria, said the Pacquiao-Garcia Dubai bout is without a doubt going to happen – with the only thing yet to be settled is the date.

“It’s between July to August. Namimili pa sila ng date,” Vegafria shared.

“We’re still looking for a date na may available na venue. Pero sigurado na sa Dubai. Dubai ang promoter,” he added.

Early this year, it was announced that Pacquiao was to fight against undefeated boxer Terrence Crawford in Abu Dhabi, however, the deal fell through Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said.

Meanwhile, in February, Pacquiao was paired against young boxer Ryan Garcia – but that too fell through.

Pacquiao’s last fight happened back in 2019 against Keith Thurman – which he won via split decision. He has since been declared champion in recess after being unable to defend the WBA “super” welterweight title due to inactivity
