Although there’s more than a whole year before the Duterte administration ends, names of potential presidential candidates have already started popping up.

According to Pulse Asia’s latest survey, there are four top candidates for the position.

Ex-senator Bongbong Marcos, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Grace Poe, and Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso are the names at the peak of the public’s preference for the presidential seat.

The public polling organization says the survey was conducted on February 22 and lasted until March 3.

Leading the public vote was Duterte-Carpio, who received support from 27 percent of the participants. Meanwhile, Marcos came in second place with 13 percent of the respondents wanting him as president.

Tied at the third spot were Poe and Domagoso, who both received 12 percent in the poll.

According to Pulse Asia, if the elections were held in the same period the polls were launched – Duterte-Carpio would have won the race to the presidency.

“If the May 2022 elections were held during the survey period (i.e., 22 February to 03 March 2021), Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte would be declared as the winner in the presidential race with a national voter preference of 27%,” the organization explained in its report.

“Second place is shared by four (4) personalities who enjoy virtually the same levels of electoral support – former Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. (13%), Senator Grace Poe (12%), Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso (12%), and Senator Emmanuel Pacquiao (11%).”

Other notable names included in the survey were Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Bong Go, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senator Panfilo Lacson, and former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
