Discovery Group – a known luxury real-estate developer – has announced a plan to expand its market reach, which it aims to accomplish by developing properties under its new millennial-focused brand.

Discovery Hospitality Corporation (DHC) will be handling the group’s new venture and is already in talks for the management of new properties in Cebu, Palawan, and Davao.

“The tourism industry may be at a halt, but DHC takes advantage of this time to pivot and develop new resorts, turning prime locations into dream destinations,” the group shared in a statement.

Under this new scheme, DHC will work on a new collection of properties veered towards travelers.

The plan will be realized under its new brand Kip & Kin, which aims to target the millennial population. The group’s new business plan will focus on the idea of combining hotel and hostel appeal in a single property.

Locations for the new venture have also been released, which includes El Nido, San Vicente, and Siargao.

Kip & Kin El Nido will be built at Vanilla Beach just across The Shoppes. Out of the three, it’s expected to be the first to operate – with the opening date set for June 2022.

Meanwhile, Kip & Kin San Vicente will be built in Palawan’s western area. It’s projected to house 42 hotel rooms and 136 hostel beds.

On the other hand, Kip & Kin Siargao will be erected in General Luna – just beside famous go-to surfing spot Cloud 9. The structure will house 34 hotel rooms and 48 hostel beds that will be accompanied by four food and beverage outlets.

The new properties are part of Discovery’s new expansion strategy, which will focus on the lower segments of the industry.

According to Cathy Nepomuceno, Discovery’s Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Operations, they’re excited to change people’s perception of traveling.

“With these properties in our plans, we are getting more excited to cater to a lot of travelers, whether the traditional ones or the more adventurous type. The experiences that we design for these are something that will definitely bring a new meaning to travel,” Nepomuceno explained.

DHC is the managing unit for publicly-listed Discovery World Corporation (DWC) upscale hotel and resort properties.
