Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has confirmed today (April 7) that she flew to Singapore on Tuesday (April 6) for health reasons.
In a statement, Duterte said she’ll be on leave until April 10 for personal health management. She notes that she acquired a travel authority from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to fly abroad.
“I am on leave from April 6-10, 2021. I have a travel authority to Singapore from the DILG. The reason is personal health management,” she said.
While away, Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte will be taking over her duties.
She assured those concerned that preparations for her return have been arranged before her overseas trip.
“All protocols for return to Davao City including RT-PCR testing and 14-day quarantine have all been pre-arranged,” Duterte explained.
Yesterday, the 42-year-old disclosed her trip to Singapore but kept mum on the purpose of her travel.
From Davao, Duterte reportedly flew to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for her overseas health trip.
Her flight to Singapore took place while the Greater Manila region is under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the surge of COVID-19 cases.
Last year, Duterte also took an eight-day medical leave from her post – from Sept. 28 until Oct. 5.
