For this year’s ‘switch off’ event, Earth Hour Philippines is teaming up with World Wildlife Fund for Nature – Philippines (WWF) and its Filipino celebrity ambassadors.
The two eco-conscious initiatives will join hands this coming Saturday (March 27) to observe the yearly “lights off” occasion.
For those not familiar, Earth Hour is one of the largest global grassroots programs to be observed in the Philippines and the whole world, specifically for the environment.
It’s an initiative that urges people to be more conscious of the impacts humans have on nature, especially the issue of climate change, by way of collectively committing to turning off electric power every year for sixty minutes.
Meanwhile, WWF is a global organization that aims to highlight the preservation of the wilderness and the reduction of human impact on nature.
The Earth Hour-WWF team-up will be observed virtually this 2021 in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The event will showcase different “environmentaries” during the event and will arrange a watch party called EHPLIX for those who want to participate.
The eco-documentaries that will be featured in the viewing get-together include Wildlife Conservation for Kids with Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski and National Youth Ambassador Xia Vigor, Feed the Future: Sustainable Dining 101 with Pia Wurtzbach and KC Concepcion, and Tackling the Plastic Problem with Iza Calzado.
The showing is set to start at 3:30 p.m. and will run until 6:00 p.m. before the Countdown to Earth hour starts at 7:00 p.m, and the Virtual Switch Off at 8:30 p.m.
The Countdown to Earth Hour will be hosted by Marc Nelson, Rovilson Fernandez, and Karen Ibasco.
